MORNING MARKET, RICE PADDIES AND VILLAGE WALK

We start our walking tour by visiting the local morning market where we could see various kinds of tropical spices, fruits, vegetables and other daily needs of the local people that are being traded in this traditional market. It is a great chance for you to watch or even experience the local bargaining system which is very common to the local people.

After the market, we are going to continue our tour by walking through the nearby rice field following the dike of the paddy field or the ancient irrigation canals, We would share about the traditional way of rice growing and also sharing knowledge about the Subak System for the Balinese rice farmers.

Along the way, we would be pampered with the stunning panorama over the vast terraced field, dense coconut trees, and view over the volcano and the mountain range of Bali.

Ending our walk at the paddy field, we would continue the tour entering the local villages where we would be able to see the traditional house compound with its private family temple as well as watching the daily life of the local villagers. We also have many opportunities to see and learn about the local vegetations that grow around the village. We visit the local giant Banyan Tree that grows on the outer courtyard of the village’s temple and it is surely one of the biggest Banyan tree that you would see in the entire Bali.

We end our trip in a local family compound and tasting a fresh young coconut juice which we deserve very much after our exciting journey.

Bali Rain Forest Hike

Enjoy 3 to 4 hours fantastic walk through the density of Bali rain forest around the Lake Buyan and Lake Tamblingan.  Our tour offers you and unforgettable journey into the tropical rain forest exploring various kinds of plants as well as some fauna that we might encounter along the way. Have yourself to have a moment to breath in the fresh and clean mountain air.

We would also visit some ancient Hindu temples that set in the heart of the rain forest and the lake side.  This tour is also be possible combined with crossing the lake on a traditional chopped wooden canoe to enjoy the serenity of the lake Tamblingan. 

Hidden Beauty of North West Bali

The tourism development at Pemueteran Village, north west Bali has been so fast over the last 15th years as there are a number of new hotels and tourist facilities have been built in the area. It has some beautiful beaches around the area even if it is not completely a white sand beach like at the southern part of Bali but Pemuteran has been able to attract many visitors with its coral reef and the coral project that has been developed in this area.

The village is mostly used a based for those who would love to enjoy the great diving and snorkeling excursion to the Island of Menjangan in the Bali West National Park. There are also some ancient temples that could be visited in the area such as Pulaki and Melanting Temples.

If you are willing to see a great sunset, you can have a nice walk following the beach towards the hill to the left from the Taman Sari Cottages. You can just follow the beach and it shall lead you to feet of the two hills where you can follow the concrete steps to the top. You can witness such a great view over Pemuteran beach, mountain range and the view of the volcanoes at the Eastern Java. 

Munduk Waterfall

This waterfall is located in the Village of Munduk where there are a few waterfalls around the area that can be accessed easily with a short hike down into the lush valley, through the coffee and clove plantation. There is a little coffee shop by this waterfall where you can enjoy this natural beauty while having a cup of Balinese coffee and currently known civet coffee or Kopi Luwak.

Amed Snorkeling Trip

The coast along Amed on the eastern side of the island is offering such a stunning experience of snorkeling or scuba diving. Snorkeling can be easily done by swimming out of the beach and there are numbers of great location for having your snorkeling adventures and the one that’s worth to be explored in the Japanese Ship Wrecked. We could easily spend a few days to have your snorkeling experience or even just having a great swim and relaxing on the beach. Great walk in the stunning country side of Bali

If you are into doing a great natural exercise or exploring the real beauty of Bali’s country side, I would love to suggest one of a fabulous walk that you can do around the charming village of Taman. This great walk brings you into the insight of natural beauty and life of the local people. For the duration of almost 4 hours, you are going to follow the ancient farmer’s track, windy rice paddies dike, amazing irrigation canals, small village’s roads, and scenic path along the ridge of the lush Ayung River valley.

The first hour, we are going to walk through the scenic terrace paddy field where we have the opportunity to share with you the ancient Subak Irrigation system and observing about the rice cultivation system and rotation throughout the year. You would also have so much of opportunity to get some great shots to memorize you great exploring in this beautiful terrace paddy field.

It depends on the time of the rice stage that we are doing the walk as it is very often that we would be entertained by the groups of ducks that are feeding themselves on the rice field which is especially after the harvesting season. The duck Sheppard bring their duck over to the field to feed themselves with the left over rice after the harvesting and also eating all kinds of bugs and tiny creature such as frog, tadpole, warm, eel and many others. The ducks also help the farmers to weed up the field and to manure the soil. It is building such a great mutual relationship between the rice farmers and the duck Sheppard as they both are benefited by this.

From this rice paddies adventures, we are walking into the village of Bongkasa where we would be provided with a real scene of village’s life and a chance to share a little knowledge about the traditional family compound, community structure as well as admiring the beauty of Bali’s traditional architecture that are captured into the local houses, gates and temples. When we walk through the village’s road that we often have to aware of the local dogs that are always be free wandering around the village. They often create such a noise when we are following these small village roads even there are some of them would just be lazy sleeping in the middle of the road and just ignoring the present of the visitors that are passing by. They are not wild or street dogs, but they are belong to the local family but they spend most of their day time to wander around the village, picking up food on the street or just having their socializing with other village’s gods. Besides dogs, we are also entertained by the domestic animals like chicken, ducks, pigs, cats, and Bali cows.

We visit giant old Banyan tree that grows on the outer courtyard of the local village temple to have some time to rest and admire the stunning tree with its great shade to cool us off from our walk. This tree is surely hundreds of years old and considered to be very sacred trees by the local inhabitant. It has a small temple built under the trees where the local people are doing their ceremonies dedicated to the Holy Spirit that is believed to reside on this holy Banyan trees.

The village lies along the western side of the Ayung River which is the longest one on the island of Bali. We follow the farmer’s track along the ridge of this lush river valley, looking over the snaky river gorge with stunning terrace field down to the bank of the river with some beautiful water cascading over the terraces.

We walk back to the village after following this fabulous track to our finishing point of our great walk and having the opportunity to taste some young fresh coconut to end our fantastic day’s adventure in the great nature of Bali.

Menjangan Island Snorkeling

The tropical marine life in Indonesian waters is said to be more diverse than other places in the world and new species are being discovered and therefore Bali is not only a paradise on its land but also its underwater world with its pleasant warm climate throughout the year with its good visibility. The great diving and snorkeling sites are in off shore waters from the North West Bali like Menjangan Island, Pemuteran, Lovina, Tulamben and Amed on the east coast.

Menjangan is an uninhabited island a part of the Bali Barat National Park is accessed only by boat from the port of Labuhan Lalang for about 40 minutes ride. It is known for its wall-diving, drift-diving and great visibility for snorkeling. You can explore the diversity of the reef fish like angelfish, scorpion fish, clown fish, napoleon fish, triggerfish, etc.

Bali Elephant Ride

While you are being in Bali, have your time to experience sitting on the top of a giant Sumatran elephant as it meanders peacefully through cultivated tropical jungle and green paddy field and the quiet village road of Buangga, west of the stunning Ayung River. You would be pampered by the stunning lush river valley scenery and cool breeze of mountain air.

Stunning Panorama of Northern Bali

Exploring the northern region of Bali offering you great experience and opportunity to enjoy such stunning panorama over mountains, rain forest, lakes and spectacular rice terraces. A wonderful day trip or even overnight trip can be made via central mountain and the village of Munduk where you could see fabulous waterfall. The above picture is a great view from Kekeran, Busung Biu Village, down to Munduk or a bit west of Mayong. It is a spectacular River Valley with back ground of Mountain scenery and villages. It is a rich farming village with various kind of crops.

Exploring the West Bali

The first fabulous stop can be made at the Village of Busung Biu at the northern Bali which is on the route to Pupuan. You can enjoy such a stunning panorama over rice terraces, mountain view and also local villages. The next cool stop would be Bunut Bolong where you are going to drive through a big tree which is called Bunut.

 

After taking a little rest with some good coffee that you can get at a local wrung near the tree, you can continue for your sightseeing through this scenic villages that rich of their farming of clove, coffee, cocoa and rubber trees. The view is truly stunning with fantastic coast line of the west Bali.

Have a quick look at Medewi Beach where it is always being crowded by many surfers who are enjoying the continues waves. It is one of the popular surfing destination in Bali. 

Following the main road that goes to the west port of Bali for crossing with ferry over to Java, you can make a little D tour to visit Perancak Cape with its elaborate fishing boat which is called Perahu. During the day time, there are many colorful boats that are parked along the cape. Continuing north, we can have a look over Eastern Java from an area close to Gilimanuk, the port for the ferry over to Java. At the big T-Junction at Gilimanuk, take the road to the right, heading towards Lovina with a fabulous stop at a temple for Layonsari and Jayaprana which is a Balinese version for Romeo and Juliet. The step is a bit climbing but it is nice with all the trees that grows along the stairways and watching over hundreds of monkeys around the forest. After the temple, you can head east and choose to stay at around Pemuteran or even going straight to Lovina for your overnight stay.
